WildLens Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 9, 2026 Last Updated: January 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ThinkCreative Media Ltd (“WildLens,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the WildLens mobile application (the “App”), available for Android, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By downloading, installing, or using WildLens, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who We Are
WildLens is a wildlife and species identification app that lets users photograph animals to receive AI-generated species identification, general wildlife information, animal-health/symptom guidance, and related educational chat features, along with a free/credit/subscription usage model.
Developer/Company: ThinkCreative Media Ltd Contact email: Support@wildlensapp.com App package name: com.wildlens.app Website: https://wildlensapp.com
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: email address, password (encrypted/hashed — we never store your plaintext password), and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier and basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) as permitted by Google Sign-In.
- Photos/images you capture or upload: pictures of animals you take within the App for identification purposes.
- Chat and text input: messages you type into the App’s AI chat features (including questions asked in “Expert” or “Beginner” chat modes), and any free-text descriptions you enter when using symptom/health-check features.
- Referral information: referral codes you generate or redeem, and the association between a referring and referred account.
- Purchase-related information: subscription tier selections and credit-pack purchases (payment card details are handled entirely by Google Play Billing/Google Play Store and RevenueCat — WildLens and its developer never receive or store your full payment card number).
- Support communications: any information you provide when you contact us for support.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and general in-app usage/interaction events (e.g., which screens are used, feature engagement), collected via crash-reporting and analytics tooling.
- Identifiers: a unique app/account identifier, and, where advertising is shown, a resettable advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID) and related ad-interaction data.
- Push notification token: a device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging / Expo Push) used to deliver notifications (e.g., credit-earned confirmations, referral milestones, subscription-expiry reminders).
- Approximate technical metadata such as IP address, which may be logged by our backend and third-party providers for security, fraud prevention, and diagnostic purposes.
2.3 Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
- We do not request or require precise GPS location to use core identification features. If any future feature requests location access, we will update this Policy and request your permission through your device’s standard permission prompt before doing so.
- We do not knowingly collect government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or biometric identifiers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide core functionality — process your photos and chat input through our AI/species-identification and symptom-assessment providers, return results, and maintain your scan/identification history.
- Manage your account — authenticate you, sync your data (e.g., scan history, saved species, credits) across sessions and devices, and maintain the credit economy and subscription tier associated with your account.
- Process payments and subscriptions — validate purchases and manage entitlements (Free / Credits / Pro tiers) through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat.
- Operate the referral program — generate and validate referral codes, credit accounts appropriately, and prevent referral fraud (e.g., self-referral, abuse detection).
- Send notifications — inform you about credit balances, referral milestones, subscription status, and other account-relevant events, where permitted by your device notification settings.
- Serve advertising — to free-tier and credit-tier users, subject to your consent choices (see Section 6, “Advertising”).
- Improve and secure the Service — diagnose crashes, monitor performance, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and improve identification accuracy and app functionality.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Email Consent – marketing contacts are unsubscribed on account deletion on a best-effort basis, the email is only handled via our email provider.
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. Where applicable law (such as the CCPA/CPRA) treats certain advertising data-sharing as a “sale” or “share,” see Section 9 for your rights and choices.
4. How Photos, Chat Content, and AI Features Work
When you take or upload a photo for identification, or send a message in a chat feature:
- The image and/or text is transmitted securely to our backend and then to our third-party AI provider (Google’s Gemini API) for processing (species identification, symptom/health guidance content, and conversational chat responses). Google processes this content under its own applicable API terms and privacy commitments.
- Identification results, chat history, and related metadata may be stored in our backend database (Supabase, hosted on infrastructure operated by Supabase Inc. and its cloud providers) so that your scan history, saved animals, and chat context are available across sessions.
- Photos are also cached locally on your device to keep your history usable if you go offline.
- Where the App offers text-to-speech (“read aloud”) functionality, message text may be sent to a speech-synthesis provider (also via the Gemini API) to generate audio.
Important: AI-generated species identifications and symptom/health guidance are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional veterinary, medical, or wildlife-expert judgment. See the Terms of Service for full disclaimers.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We share information with the following categories of third-party service providers, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy and only to the extent necessary to provide their service to us:
| Provider / Category | Purpose | What’s Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (database, authentication, backend functions) | Account storage, authentication, data sync, backend logic | Account credentials/identifiers, scan history, referral data, app data |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI species identification, chat, symptom guidance, text-to-speech | Photos, chat text, related metadata |
| Google Sign-In | Optional authentication method | Google account ID, name, email, profile photo |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and credit-purchase management, entitlement validation | Purchase/subscription status, anonymized purchase identifiers |
| Google Play Billing | Payment processing for subscriptions and credit packs | Purchase transaction data (payment details handled entirely by Google) |
| Google AdMob (and Google’s advertising partners) | Displaying and, where applicable, rewarding ads to Free/Credit-tier users | Advertising identifier, ad interaction data, general device data |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging / Expo Push | Delivering push notifications | Device push token |
| Crash reporting & analytics tooling (e.g., Sentry, PostHog) | Diagnosing crashes, monitoring stability, understanding aggregate feature usage | Device/app metadata, crash logs, usage events |
We require these providers to handle information consistent with this Policy and applicable law. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the independent privacy practices of these providers beyond our contractual and configuration controls (e.g., consent settings we pass to them).
6. Advertising
Free-tier and Credit-tier users may see banner, interstitial, and/or rewarded ads served through Google AdMob.
- Consent: Where required by law (e.g., users in the European Economic Area, UK, and certain U.S. states), we present a consent management (“UMP”) flow before showing personalized ads, and honor your choices regarding personalized vs. non-personalized advertising.
- Ad identifiers: Ads may use your device’s resettable advertising identifier and general app-usage signals to select and measure ads.
- Your controls: You can reset or limit ad tracking through your device’s system settings (e.g., Android Settings → Google → Ads), and you can manage or withdraw consent at any time via Settings → Manage Ad Consent within the App.
- Rewarded ads: If you choose to watch a rewarded ad in exchange for in-app credits, viewing/completion data is shared with AdMob to verify and grant the reward.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account information, scan history, and related data for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you delete your account (see Section 10), we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g., transaction records) for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
8. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), database access controls (including row-level security on our backend), and hashed/salted password storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and associated personal information (see Section 10).
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including personalized advertising.
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format, where applicable.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (e.g., personalized ads), without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, to the extent applicable under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA.
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at Support@wildlensapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9.1 European Economic Area / UK Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing include: performance of a contract (providing the App and its features), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), consent (personalized advertising, certain notifications), and compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the rights described above, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and disclose, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising via the ad-consent controls described in Section 6.
10. Children’s Privacy
WildLens’s “Beginner” and “Expert” chat modes are difficulty/content-depth settings available to all users — Beginner mode offers simpler, more accessible explanations, and Expert mode offers more detailed, technical content. Neither mode is targeted at, or designed specifically for, children, and selecting Beginner mode does not indicate that the user is a child.
- WildLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions (e.g., UK Age Appropriate Design Code, GDPR provisions on children’s data).
- Account creation, purchases, and data sync require an account. Per our Terms of Service, account holders must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable age of digital consent in their jurisdiction), or use the Service under a parent/guardian’s account and supervision if younger.
- If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction) without appropriate parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information without consent may contact us at Support@wildlensapp.com to request deletion.
Note: Because children’s-privacy compliance (COPPA, GDPR-K, UK AADC, Google Play “Families” policies, etc.) depends on the App’s actual audience designation in Google Play Console, we recommend confirming that designation matches this section (i.e., that WildLens is not registered as a Families/child-directed app) before publishing.
11. International Data Transfers
Our service providers (including Supabase’s cloud infrastructure and Google) may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for such transfers.
12. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites or content (e.g., informational resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means, and update the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, please contact us at:
Email: Support@wildlensapp.com Website: https://wildlensapp.com
This document is a general-purpose template and does not constitute legal advice. Given that WildLens processes photos, AI chat content, subscription payments, and advertising data, we recommend having this Policy reviewed by a qualified attorney familiar with app privacy law (including COPPA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and Google Play Developer Policy requirements) before publishing it live and before submitting the App for Google Play review.
